From
ancient heraldry, the rampant red stag represents strength, harmony
& magnanimity. The Red Stag Award is assigned to those Webmasters
who reflect the same in their excellence of technology, content and
design on their sites. In short, these awards are intended to foster a
positive evolution in our experience on the Web.
To
ensure the long-term value of these awards for their recipients, they
must be earned. As such, careful attention should be paid to the
criteria and evaluation procedures for each category. A code has been
inserted in the Criteria section that must be added to the application
form. Submissions without the code will be discarded. While
requirements are identical for personal and commercial categories, we
feel that a cross-comparison of these sites is inherently unfair. Our
judges view each site on its own merit.
Four
levels of awards are available for each category: Gold, Silver, Bronze
and Merit. The chart below is a summary overview of what each
level represents. Awards samples are shown actual size.

GOLD
Sites
that are awarded Gold exhibit overall excellence in technology,
content and design. These sites embody the very best the Web has
to offer. Winners will receive a personalized award, a
screenshot with a description of the site and a link on our Gold
Winners page. Scored 95-100. |

SILVER
Sites
that are awarded Silver exhibit excellence in technology,
content and design with minimal room for improvement. These
sites represent an enviable level of quality and depth. Winners will
receive a personalized award and a link with a site
description on our Silver Winners
page. Scored 89-94.

|
BRONZE
Sites
that are awarded Bronze exhibit excellence in content
or design with room for overall improvement. These sites
represent a high level of originality, entertainment, or
information while remaining solidly functional. Winners will receive a personalized award and a link with a
site description on our Bronze Winners
page. Scored 79-88.

MERIT
Sites
that are awarded Merit reflect extraordinary effort and
exhibit great potential in content and design. These sites are
“diamonds in the rough” that will excel with improvement.

for commercial sites are identical to all awards above, except
for the engraving that identifies them as such.
